Letter to Pope Francis

I don’t go to Catholic church, but it was Ash Wednesday and
Sometimes life happens in a curious way
I walked in a church and looked up the aisle
Saw my brother walking toward me with an angelic smile
I gave him a hug and we genuflected
I asked, why are you here you were so cruelly rejected
He said Pope Francis loves me, he doesn’t care that I’m gay
Then he smiled at the altar and bowed his head to pray
Pope Francis it’s crazy to write to the Pope
Pope Francis hear my prayer, you’re my last hope

I pray there’s a God and he’s a God of Love

the bride and groom walked down the aisle floating on their feet
Father Dominic smiled but his smile was bittersweet
Another wedding well-done, the church was full for once
He sighed, and thought “I’m a romantic old dunce”
He hung his robes in the sacristy
and wondered, will that ever happen to me?
Will I turn from the altar to kiss my new wife?
Could a miracle happen in my life?

Dear Pope Francis Can you hear us?
You can make a better world
You can bring us all together
Shed the light of the true Word
No False Prophets spouting hatred
show us what is still sacred
